About Me:

Dr. David Kao is a board-certified dermatologist who specializes in Mohs micrographic surgery and reconstructive surgery following removal of skin cancers. Dr. Kao is a fellowship trained Mohs surgeon and fellow member of the American College of Mohs Surgery. He has been in private practice just outside of Portland in the Lake Oswego/Tualatin area since 2005. Prior to that, he practiced as a Mohs surgeon at Kaiser Permanente. Dr. Kao is an active member of Oregon Dermatology Society and the Oregon Medical Association and the American Society of Dermatologic Surgery. He enjoys traveling, trying new restaurants and staying active with hiking, biking and running. Hobbies include: Traveling, Cycling, Running, Hiking

Medical School: University of Ottawa, School of Medicine
Undergraduate: University of British Columbia
Training: Dr. Kao completed his undergraduate studies at the University of British Columbia in his hometown of Vancouver, B.C. He then attended medical school at the University of Ottawa. After graduating, he completed an Internal Medicine residency and became a board-certified internist. He went on to complete a second residency in dermatology and a fellowship in cutaneous oncology at the University of Pennsylvania. He also completed a Laser fellowship at Harvard University under the instruction of Kenneth Arndt, M.D. and Jeffrey Dover, M.D. Lastly, he received extensive training in Mohs surgery during a one-year fellowship with Richard G. Bennett, M.D. at UCLA and USC Schools of Medicine.
