Change in visitor policies
Beginning October 5, 2009, Legacy hospital visitor policies have changed as explained here: Help Us Protect Our Patients From H1N1/Swine Flu.
Flu shots are not available from Legacy at this time
The vaccine for H1N1 virus ("swine flu") is in very limited supply at present, with distribution controlled by the federal government. Currently the vaccine is only being given to high-risk populations and for health care workers to protect patient safety. To date, the government has not provided Legacy Health with enough H1N1 vaccine to distribute to Legacy Medical Group patients.
Seasonal flu vaccine has been slow and limited in reaching many health systems, including Legacy. Our supplier has provided only a fraction of what was ordered, so no seasonal flu vaccine is available at Legacy medical group clinics.
An announcement will be posted on this site if Legacy is able to obtain enough H1N1 or seasonal flu vaccine to distribute to our primary care clinics.
If you don't want to wait for seasonal flu shots, you may wish to search for public clinics using the American Lung Association's Flu Clinic Locator. Be aware that many community facilities are currently out of seasonal flu vaccine but expect to be getting more in the near future.
Physicians: If you have a patient to be tested for H1N1, please see this page.
