Legacy Diabetes and Nutrition Services

November is American Diabetes Month
This special month-long program supports the American Diabetes Awareness Campaign, a long-term, broad-based effort designed to increase the awareness of this serious disease. To learn more, visit the American Diabetes Association website.

What kind of people have diabetes?

You'd be surprised.

More and more Americans of all ages are dealing with diabetes. According the Center for Disease Control, diabetes in the US increased by 32% between 1990 and 2000 -- with a 70% jump for people aged 30-39. And the numbers are still rising.

That's the bad news. The good news is that lifestyle changes regarding food and exercise have been clearly shown to improve diabetes control, and can also lower the risk of developing diabetes in the first place.

Diabetes presents daily demands and decisions that require special skills and up-to-date knowledge. That's where Legacy comes in. We provide empowering education that meets your needs and your treatment plan. In addition to individual consultation, Legacy offers a variety of diabetes classes and support groups.

Which one are you?

  • If you've been diagnosed with pre-diabetes you should learn all you can, and make lifestyle changes to prevent your condition from worsening into diabetes. Our Nutrition Services staff can help.
