Our goal is compassionate, competent care for hospice patients and their families and friends. We serve those who are experiencing severe pain, intractable nausea, seizures, depression, respiratory distress, or other conditions that the patient's family is unable to cope with. Our round-the-clock medical care emphasizes symptom management and support for the whole person.

A welcoming place

Our peaceful facility is nestled in a wooded area of Southwest Portland, with 11 personalized patient rooms looking out over the trees and featuring handmade quilts and other home-like touches. Meals are customized for each patient and are also available for family members. We encourage visits, and everyone is welcome -- even the family pet.

CarePages

CarePages are free personalized web pages to help Legacy patients and their loved ones keep in touch. Post messages, updates, and pictures, and receive responses from those who can't be with you. To begin the simple steps toward creating your own site, or visiting someone else's, please see our CarePages information.

Bereavement support

Bereavement follow-up is an important part of Hopewell House care. On the death of a patient, our bereavement counselors provide family members and friends with both written resources and emotional support.

Grief support groups and classes are offered at Hopewell House and at our other hospice locations in Portland and McMinnville. These groups are open to the general public on a space-available basis; please call the Hopewell House social worker at 503-244-7890.

Volunteering

Volunteers at Legacy Hopewell House Hospice help with direct patient care, cooking and kitchen cleanup, gardening, massage therapy, administrative work and reception. Training is provided; see Hospice Volunteering.
