Legacy Injured Workers Program

We work with your referring physician, insurer or health nurse to get you back to work or to a prior level of independence as quickly as possible. Throughout the process we emphasize conditioning, exercise and areturn to mobility. You'll learn how to continue rehabilitation on your own, and also ways to avoid further injury.

Physical and work capacity evaluations

These programs are designed to:

  • Assist with claim closure and/or movement of a case through your compensation system
  • Provide information about the category of work you fall into according to the 'Dictionary of Occupational Titles'
  • Provide information about your maximal physical ability and function

Physical Capacity Evaluation (PCE)
A 2-hour assessment of your general abilities, including but not limited to the ability to lift, carry, ambulate, tolerate sitting, climb stairs, push/pull and perform overhead work.

Work Capacity Evaluation (WCE)
A 6-hour test (3-hour sections over 2 consecutive days) that includes the PCE listed above and a determination as to whether you can perform specific work tasks in your job description. You'll then be evaluated while performing those tasks.

Work conditioning program

This intensive, goal-oriented treatment program at Legacy Emanuel Medical Center gives injured workers the strength, endurance and confidence to return to work in the correct capacity. We serve clients recuperating from on-the-job injuries, including worker's compensation cases and non-job-related injuries.

Our specialized therapists address systemic, neurological, musculoskeletal and cardiopulmonary functions. You'll be carefully monitored to ensure safe work practices and to continue the progress you gain in therapy. If you're unable to return to work, we'll help achieve claim closures by maximizing your physical capacity.
