Honoring Senator Al Bauer on Salmon Creek's fifth anniversary
This month we honored Washington state Senator Al Bauer Jr. by naming the road in front of the hospital after him and establishing the Bauer Charity Care Fund in his name.
Nearly 100 people were on hand, including family, longtime friends, Dr. George Brown, President and CEO of Legacy Health, and Jonathan Avery, CAO of Legacy Salmon Creek.
The honors coincided with Legacy Salmon Creek's fifth-year anniversary. It was especially poignant for Senator Bauer because the hospital stands on the land that had been his family's farm since 1942.
In those five years, more than 8,000 babies have been born and 200,000 patients seen on the former site of the Bauer farm.
