Choose Legacy Health

An exemplary community citizen

You can be proud to work at Legacy—we take social responsibility seriously. See our latest community report.

Legacy is a not-for-profit healthcare system with the mission of achieving the highest possible community standard for quality, safe healthcare. But we don’t do our work in a vacuum. We know that for us to be successful, the communities we serve must be successful, too. Our legacy is good health for our communities. Last year, we allocated more than $158 million in community benefit contributions. See In the Community for the details.

Healthy communities need a healthy environment. Legacy has achieved national recognition as a leader in recycling and sustainability efforts. We recycle more than 50 percent of all our waste, and partner with smaller hospitals in the area to allow them to recycle medical waste. For more information, see Sustainability.

A preferred employer

Yet being a good citizen is only part of the story. It’s how we treat our employees that really makes Legacy such a special organization. We value our employees' independence, initiative and who they are away from work. We're dedicated to creating a culture in which learning is encouraged, creativity welcomed and initiative rewarded. We’ve structured our workplace to reflect these goals. We encourage clinical units to address workflow, quality and job satisfaction issues on their units.

Integral to Legacy’s employer vision is creating and maintaining a culture of excellence. We value respect, service, quality, excellence, responsibility, innovation and leadership. We emphasize teamwork, embrace family-centered care, view issues from a holistic perspective, offer rewards and recognition and practice effective communication. In short, we expect excellence from our employees, and they expect it from us. A financially stable organization

Legacy employs the highest standards of fiscal responsibility and ethical business practices. As a community benefit organization, we do not sell stock nor pay dividends. Our Board of Directors are local physicians, executives and members of the religious community who volunteer their time. All Legacy does is for the benefit of the community. And we take seriously the trust the community has placed in our hands to be good stewards of community assets. Every employee takes personal pride in delivering the very best service in the most cost-effective way to as many people as possible.
