Biography
Dr. Larsen is a dermatologist at the Portland Dermatology Clinic in Portland, Oregon. He is a graduate of the University of California Pharmacy School and the University of Southern California School of Medicine. He completed his dermatology residency at OHSU in 1966.
Dr. Larsen was a medical officer in the U.S. Army in the Department of Dermatology at the Walter Reed Institute of Research from 1962 to 1963. He was a senior scientific investigator in the Department of Dermatology at the University of Nijmegen Medical School in Nigmegen, The Netherlands. He is currently a Clinical Professor of Dermatology at OHSU. He was secretary treasurer of the American Academy of Dermatology from 1976 to 1979. He was a member of the North American Contact Dermatitis Group from 1970 to 1990. He was secretary treasurer of the organization from 1970 to 1975. He is a past president of the Oregon Dermatologic Society and the Northwest Dermatologic Association. He was assistant editor of the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology from 1983 to 1989. He was on the Editorial Advisory Board of the Journal Contact Dermatitis from 1975 to the present time. He was Editor-In-Chief of the American Journal of Contact Dermatitis from 1993 to 1999.
He is the author/co-author of many scientific articles, book chapters and abstracts on contact dermatitis. He co-authored Color Text of Contact Dermatitis, by Larsen, Adams and Maibach and contributed a chapter to the book, Fragrances Beneficial and Adverse Effects, edited by Frosch, Johansen and White.
Dr. Larsen travels internationally, teaching dermatology and volunteering his services to clinics in underprivileged countries. He has done volunteer work in Moldova, Uzbekistan, San Salvador and China. When not treating his large following of loyal patients (some of whom have been coming to him for years), he most enjoys spending time with his family, sailing and golfing.
