Biography

Gregory B. McCoy, MD, is a Diplomate of the American Board of Urology. He is a Fellow of the American Urologic Association, a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, a member of the Oregon Urologic Society and a Delegate of the Multnomah County Medical Society. Dr. McCoy's interest in urology is driven by his interest in helping patients make dramatic improvements in their health without sacrificing quality of life.

Dr. McCoy received his undergraduate degree at Vanderbilt University in 1977 and earned his medical degree at Vanderbilt Medical School in 1981. He completed his internship and residency at Oregon Health & Science University in 1987. He has been practicing in Portland since 1987.

Dr. McCoy has sub-specialized in robotic prostatectomy, seed implants for prostate cancer, laser and microwave treatment of prostatic obstruction, endoscopic kidney stone procedures and other minimally invasive surgery techniques. He also specializes in no scalpel vasectomy, microscopic vasectomy reversal and sling procedures for female incontinence. He is encouraged by the technological advances being made and the ways in which they are changing people's perceptions of urology.

Dr. McCoy believes in going above and beyond in offering patients options and explanations. He stresses education as a crucial component of treatment.

In his free time, Dr. McCoy enjoys fishing, golfing, biking, cooking, cinema and literature. He believes laughter can go a long way toward helping all of us enjoy life.
