Patient Population &/or Specialty Served:   Critically ill adult medical & surgical patients; primary focus on medical; including but not limited to, neurological, cardiac, pulmonary, renal, metabolic & infectious conditions with hemodynamic instability
Usual Times/Days of Week Unit Open:  24/7
Shift Length Worked & Start Times:  12 hour shifts, 0700 & 1900 
Number of Licensed Patient Beds:  10 
Average Daily Unit Census: 5-7 
Average Length of Stay:   
Number of RNs Working Each Shift:  4-5 
Mix:  RN staff, daily CHT/unit secretary 
Style of Nursing & Usual Patient Assignment:  2:1, with frequent 1:1 
Special Skill Sets Usually Required of RNs:  ACLS, cardiac & hemodynamic monitoring, CRRT proficiency
