Patient Population &/or Specialty Served:
Endo: Adult procedure based (e.g., colonoscopy, gastroscopy, TEE, bronchoscopy, motility study, pH study, capsule endoscopy, ERCP, biopsy in CT or US needing sedation) SPO: Same as above plus angiography
Usual Times/Days of Week Unit Open:
Endo: M-F, 0700-1700
SPO: M-F, 0600-1730
Shift Length Worked & Start Times:
8-10 hour shifts
Number of Licensed Patient Beds:  Endo: 4 procedure rooms
SPO: 12 beds in curtained bays
Average Daily Unit Census:  4-15 procedures per day
Average Length of Stay: 30 minutes - 2 hours
Number of RNs Working Each Shift:
5 on each unit
Mix: Endo: RN, Technician
SPO: RN only
Average Skill Style of Nursing & Usual Patient Assignment:
Special Skill Sets Usually Required of RNs: ACLS, sedation certification; Cardiac background in SPO; Endo: 6-12 months on-the-job training
