Summer Student Program

The Summer Student Program at the Legacy Research Institute offers college students opportunities to further their education and training through meaningful exposure to basic science research in the laboratories of Legacy research scientists. The program is designed to help students understand the nature of bioscience research and emphasizes methods of discovery and communication of knowledge, not the mastery of established facts.

Summer students will work with their mentor on established ongoing projects or may design an independent research project in line with the overall goals of the laboratory.  At the end of summer, students are expected to make a presentation to the research staff about their scientific experience.

The Summer Student Program typically lasts 10-12 weeks, although there can be some variance in time commitment based on individual schedules. Students receive a stipend derived from investigators' allocated grant funds or through funding from the Legacy Good Samaritan Foundation.

Applications for Summer 2014 are closed.  A link to applications for Summer 2015 will be posted here in March.
