Medical Services Building Project Update
The scale and shape of the new outpatient and medical services building is now visible as the construction project advances on the eastern side of the Mount Hood Medical Center campus.
Interior construction work continues on developing the inside spaces, mechanical and electrical systems and infrastructure. "It’s the mechanical and electrical show for the next month," said project superintendent Jeff Herd with Fortis Construction. This work involves completing installation of mechanical and electrical conduits and controls, plumbing lines, and ductwork for air ventilation and heating.
Steel wall framing on the ground level is giving a sense of place for the clinical and public areas. Framed spaces show the location and size of the Gastroenterology and operating room procedure suites, prep and recovery rooms, clinical workspaces, offices and conference rooms, supply and storage, restrooms, and the layout of the main entry that includes patient access, outpatient lab, refreshment station, gift shop, and lobbies.
The public access entry and parking areas for the building are now defined by the concrete curbs that were recently poured for the new site roadway.
New sidewalks along Stark Street opened in late March, providing safety lighting and a continuous walking route along the entire Stark Street border of the campus. The walkway will have landscaping features in the coming weeks.
The new emergency access road open on schedule March 23 and the transition went smoothly. The roadway is now the permanent route for emergency and public safety vehicles to bring patients to the Emergency Department. The roadway also serves as the service route for vendors and supply deliveries to the hospital.
