Medical Services Building Project Update
Dry weather in December helped the construction team finish the reinforced concrete work on the building elevator and stairwell structures and to pour the concrete slab for the ground floor.
Large steel beams for the building’s structural framework are scheduled to arrive mid-January. This will be an exciting phase to watch! The building’s shape and size will emerge over a 10 week period as the crane moves beams into place and steel workers attach the beams and assemble the walls, floors and roof.
Pedestrian and vehicle access
Pedestrian walkway improvements are being made as part of the medical services building project. A new lighted walkway taking shape on Stark Street on Mount Hood Medical Center’s border will provide better pedestrian access and a safer walking route. A temporary pedestrian detour on Stark Street has been set-up to create a safety zone around the walkway construction activity. The new pathway is expected to be ready by late February.
A new emergency access road on the campus eastern border is nearing completion. The roadway’s lighting system and water, sewer and power utilities will be installed during March. The emergency service road will open once the lighting and utility systems are in place.
