Legacy in the community

Our vision at Legacy Health is to be essential to the health of the region, and our mission is to create a legacy of health for people, our patients, our communities and our world.

Legacy Health, a locally owned, nonprofit health organization, helps fulfill unmet needs in the communities we serve through community partnerships. Our community benefits are aligned with the nationally accepted Catholic Health Association standards: charity care and costs of serving those in need, health services, health professional education, medical research, cash and in-kind donations, and community building.

Legacy continually assesses the needs of the communities we serve to determine how to most effectively improve the overall health status. As we see changes in demographics that have seen increases in those with lower income levels, less education, lower health status and lower health literacy, Legacy recognizes that directing efforts to address issues within communities of racial and ethnic diversity is critical.

And we walk our talk, with a serious commitment to social responsibility and extensive charitable giving. For example, during fiscal year 2015 we allocated $249.3 million in community benefit contributions.
