Legacy is a recognized leader in Oregon in school-to-work partnerships, especially in supporting new state education standards and curricula.
Legacy hospitals provide job shadow and internship experiences only for students at schools with official contractual relationships with Legacy; see the list below.
Many elementary, middle and high school students hear speakers provided by Legacy Health through the Trauma Nurses Talk Tough injury prevention program.
Legacy Mount Hood Medical Center partners with the Center for Advanced Learning (CAL), to provide students from six school districts in East Multnomah County with basic clinical experience. The students can choose to earn a Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) certificate.
Each Legacy hospital works to develop a partner relationship with an elementary, middle and high school. The hospital plans school-to-career activities for the students, and they in turn help the hospital by singing at dedications, displaying artwork in clinics and patient hallways and writing to patients. Partner schools include:
- Beaverton Health & Science High School
- Benson High School
- Boise Eliot Elementary
- Chapman Elementary
- Jefferson High School
- Lincoln High School
- Metropolitan Learning Center
- Bridgeport Elementary
- Hazelbrook Middle School
- Tualatin High School
