A calming presence over the night The Oregonian Judy Pahl, RN decided she wanted to be a nurse when she was just five years old and visiting her grandmother in the hospital. When Judy graduated from high school, she applied to the Emanuel School of Nursing. She says she’s happy she was accepted because she never considered a plan B. Judy has now been with Legacy Emanuel Medical Center for more than 55 years. Almost since graduation, she has been a night supervisor. Judy likes working nights because it's different every day and always a challenge, "You've never seen it all." Her calming presence and quiet leadership is felt by everyone who meets her. When she has meetings and long shifts, Judy says a hazelnut latte is what gets her through.
