Legacy Mount Hood cardiac rehab program earns national certification

October 11, 2011

Portland, Oregon - Legacy Mount Hood Medical Center's cardiovascular rehabilitation program has earned national certification from the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation.

Certification recognizes programs that are rigorously reviewed by a national board and found to meet strict national standards and guidelines for patient safety and treatment protocols.

Cardiovascular rehabilitation programs are designed to help people with cardiovascular problems (e.g. heart attacks, coronary artery bypass graft surgery, etc.) recover faster and improve their quality of life. Services include clinically monitored exercise, education, counseling and support for patients and their families. Goals center on increasing cardiac fitness; increasing awareness about cardiovascular disease; reducing risk factors; assisting in the return to work; and promoting psychological adjustment.

Certified AACVPR programs are recognized as leaders in the field of cardiovascular and pulmonary rehabilitation because they offer the most advanced practices available. AACVPR Program Certification is valid for three years.

Legacy Salmon Creek Medical Center in Vancouver, WA, also recently received certification. Legacy Good Samaritan Medical Center and Legacy Meridian Park Medical Center received earlier certification.

Legacy Mount Hood's cardiac rehab program is located in Suite 130 of Medical Office Building 3, 24988 SE Stark St., in Gresham. Call (503) 674-1590 for more information.
