Practicing medicine at Legacy
Physicians are the foundation on which Legacy Health’s mission is built. We depend on physicians to provide and manage the excellent clinical care that is delivered at Legacy facilities. Legacy's medical staffs are a combination of private practice and employed physicians. Our employed physicians include:
- Internal medicine and family practice physicians in our primary care clinics
- Hospitalists and pediatric hospitalists in our hospitals
- Pediatricians at Randall Children's Hospital at Legacy Emanuel
- Sub-specialists in our specialty clinics
We are proud of our robust continuing education programs. We offer both Legacy-accredited CME programs and professional education opportunities sponsored by our clinical departments, with accreditation by a variety of professional organizations.
Legacy's physician recruitment team provides recruitment and practice support to physicians in Legacy's service area. See Find Jobs and Apply to view our current openings. We are happy to assist you; feel free to contact us:

Our physician philosophy
Our philosophy and practice is that physicians are key partners, along with administration and the Board of Directors, in setting Legacy's direction and goals as a high-quality healthcare organization. In fact, Legacy's CEO, CMO, the chief administrative officer at one of our hospitals and three members of the Board of Directors are physicians. In addition, we have many physicians in leadership positions, including clinical vice presidents of medicine, surgery, pediatrics, ophthalmology, research, medical informatics/diagnostics, women’s services and medical directors in key specialty areas. Our medical staff members have an opportunity to participate in all levels of planning, decision-making and implementation of key strategies at Legacy Health.
Physician satisfaction is a priority
The 2012 Provider Opinion Survey, administered by Morehead Associates, shows that Legacy's physicians continue to be significantly more engaged than other physicians around the country. According to Lewis Low, M.D., Legacy chief medical officer, Legacy is committed to working with physicians as we move forward with the transformation of care.
From the intimacy of caring for families in our primary care clinics to the "you-never-know-what's-coming-next" challenges in our fast-paced hospitals, Legacy has the variety of practice opportunities you would expect in a large multi-state hospital system, but with the intimacy of a community organization and the liveability of the Pacific Northwest. Whatever your interest, it's likely Legacy has the right opportunity for you. Our distinguishing features include:
