Emergency services for all ages, all types of illnesses and injuries, including Trauma and a Children's ED

Usual Times/Days of Week Unit Open:

24/7

Shift Length Worked & Start Times:

Mostly 12 hour shifts with start times at 07, 09, 10, 11, 14, 15, 17, & 1900

Number of Licensed Patient Beds:

24 - 5 trauma/critical bays and 6 ambulatory care beds

Average Daily Unit Census:

102

Average Length of Stay:

186 minutes for discharged patients

Number RNs Working Each Shift:

At 0700 - 6; at 0900 - 7; at 1700 - 11; at 0500 - 7

Skill Mix: 

75% RN, 25% ED Technician

Average Skill Style of Nursing & Usual Patient Assignment:

1:3 for 20 hours a day, 1:4 for 4 hours a day

Special Skill Sets Usually Required of RNs: 

ACLS, PALS, TNCC or TEAM to be kep current; ENPC one-time only
