This one-day course will train experienced surgical nurses in the fundamentals of first-scrubbing trauma surgery.
RN’s will support and enhance the learning environment for surgeons to have better focus on surgical trauma fundamentals during the Advanced Trauma Operative Management (ATOM) course. The RN trauma student will gain a better understanding of how to prepare for a traumatic surgical operation and differentiate between an emergent surgical procedure and a true trauma.
This includes 4 hours of didactic and 4 hours of high-fidelity simulation training.
By training the RN’s and surgeons as a team, both will be better prepared for handling true trauma in a real life setting and thus lower mortality rates.
Team training improves:
- overall efficiency
- use of appropriate equipment
- staff awareness
CEs Provided by Legacy Health Clinical Practice Support, Provider approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing, Provider number CEP 8749 for 5 contact hours.
Participants must complete the course to receive a CEU certificate for 4 CEs.
Please advise at the time of registration if you will be attending with a surgeon.
