Step 1: Schedule an appointment

When scheduling, you'll be asked for this patient information:

1) Full legal name
2) Date of birth
3) Social Security number
4) Ordering physician
5) Imaging exam to be performed
6) Reason for exam (signs or symptoms)
7) Insurance coverage (name of insurance and authorization number if required)

Note: The patient should be advised to bring their insurance card and photo ID to the appointment. Co-pays and deductibles are due at the appointment time.

Step 2: Download a Legacy imaging requisition form, then fax your completed form to:

Note: Some patient procedures require specific patient preparation. Patient preparation information is available when scheduling the procedure. Remind the patient to come 15 minutes early with their insurance information/card (carrier name, I.D. or claim number) and the Imaging Requisition Form.

Our procedure information

Angiography

LENGTH OF PROCEDURE: 4 -12 hours, including procedure, pre- and post-op care

REPORT AVAILABILITY: Within 24 hours

PATIENT PREPARATION: No food or drink for 6 hours prior to the procedure. Patient should take their regular daily medications, unless informed not to do so by their physician. Please inform the patient that they will need to arrange for someone to drive them home after the procedure.

Bone Densitometry (DEXA)

LENGTH OF PROCEDURE: Approximately 30 minutes

REPORT AVAILABILITY: Within 24 hours

PATIENT PREPARATION: Do not take calcium pills on day of procedure. It is requested that the patient wear clothing without zippers or metal fasteners to avoid the need to change into a patient gown

BSGI
  
LENGTH OF PROCEDURE: 90 minutes to 2 hours

Cardiac Angiography

LENGTH OF PROCEDURE: 6-12 hours, including procedure, pre- and post-op care

REPORT AVAILABILITY: Within 24 hours

PATIENT PREPARATION: No food or drink for 6 hours prior to the procedure. Patient should take regular daily medications, unless requested not to by their physician. Please inform the patient that they will need to arrange for someone to drive them home after the procedure.
 
Dual Source CT Scanner

LENGTH OF PROCEDURE: Depending on the procedure, from 10-60 minutes

REPORT AVAILABILITY: Within 24 hours

PATIENT PREPARATION: Dependent on the procedure. Please request prep information at time of scheduling.
  
Fluoroscopy

LENGTH OF PROCEDURE: 10 to 90 minutes for the procedure. Exams not requiring contrast media generally take less than 30 minutes.

REPORT AVAILABILITY: Within 24 hours

PATIENT PREPARATION: Dependent on the procedure. Please request prep information at time of scheduling. 

Interventional Radiology

LENGTH OF PROCEDURE: 30 to 90 minutes for the procedure, although the patient may be at the hospital for 2-12 hours for pre- and post-op care.

REPORT AVAILABILITY: Within 24 hours

PATIENT PREPARATION: No food or drink 8 hours prior to the procedure. The patient should take regular daily medications unless asked not to by their physician. Please inform the patient that they will need to arrange for someone to drive them home after the procedure.

Magnetic Resonance Imaging (1.5 and 3T MRI)

LENGTH OF PROCEDURE: 45 to 60 minutes

REPORT AVAILABILITY: Within 24 hours

PATIENT PREPARATION: Patients can eat normally, except young children who will be receiving sedation. Children should not eat or drink for four hours prior to the exam.

Patients with pacemakers are not eligible for MRI scans.

Sheet metal workers and welders must be identified before the exam because they may have flecks of metal in their eyes that could be damaging if exposed to the magnetic field. X-rays of their eyes can determine if the exam can be performed safely.

Magnetic Resonance Angiography (MRA)

LENGTH OF PROCEDURE: 30-90 minute

REPORT AVAILABILITY: Within 24 hour

PATIENT PREPARATION: Patients can eat normally, except young children who may receive sedation. Children should not eat or drink for four hours prior to the exam.

Patients with pacemakers are not eligible for MRI scans.

Mammography

LENGTH OF PROCEDURE: 15-20 minutes for screening mammography, 30-60 minutes for diagnostic mammography

REPORT AVAILABILITY: Within 24 hours

PATIENT PREPARATION: The patient should not use any deodorant, perfume, powders or ointments under the arms or breasts on the day of the exam, as these may show up as an abnormality on the film. Wearing a two-part outfit will allow the patient to undress only from the waist up.

Multi-slice Computed Tomography (CT)

LENGTH OF PROCEDURE: 30 to 60 minutes

REPORT AVAILABILITY: Within 24 hours

PATIENT PREPARATION: No food or drink 1 hour prior to procedure if contrast is to be used

Nuclear Medicine

LENGTH OF PROCEDURE: 60 to 90 minutes for the procedure. There may be a waiting period between the time of injection to the time of the scan.  For a cardiac exam, the procedure may take up to 3 hours.

REPORT AVAILABILITY: Within 24 hours

PATIENT PREPARATION: Dependent on the procedure. The most common prep is nothing by mouth for 4 hours prior to the procedure. The patient cannot smoke, use chewing tobacco, chew gum or have breath mints during this time.

Positron Emission Tomography and CT Imaging (PET/CT)

LENGTH OF PROCEDURE: 45 minutes for the procedure. Total time from check-in to completion is 2 hours.

REPORT AVAILABILITY: PET images are viewable at exam completion. Written reports are available within 24 hours. Color PET images showing abnormalities are available to referring physicians.

PATIENT PREPARATION: Nothing to eat or drink (except water) for six hours before the procedure. The patient cannot smoke, use chewing tobacco, chew gum or have breath mints during this time. The patient should continue taking medications prescribed by their doctor. The patient's blood sugar will be measured immediately before the exam.

Ultrasound

LENGTH OF PROCEDURE: 45 to 60 minutes

REPORT AVAILABILITY: Within 24 hours

PATIENT PREPARATION: There is usually no prep for the exam, except for pelvis or  pregnancy scans. For those, the patient is required to have a full bladder to differentiate structures in the pelvis. The patient is asked to come to the exam after drinking 16-24 ounces of water and not emptying the bladder before the study. For abdomen scans, patients will be asked to have nothing to eat or drink 8 hours prior to the exam.

X-Ray

LENGTH OF PROCEDURE: 10-30 minutes

REPORT AVAILABILITY: Within 24 hours

PATIENT PREPARATION: Dependent on the procedure. Generally, no prep is needed.
