Specimen Collection Requirements
Blood stained diaper, grossly bloody (red) stool or bloody vomitus or mucus. Specimens must have visible blood present.
1.0 gram bloody stool, vomitus, or mucus
0.5 gram bloody stool, vomitus, or mucus
Specimens with no visible blood present.
Ambient (18-26°C): 48 hours; Refrigerated (2-8°C): 3 days; Frozen (at or below -20°C): Unacceptable
Alkaline Denaturation, Colorimetry
Negative: Fetal blood is not present (normal)
Positive: Fetal blood is present
