Guidelines

Anti-cardiolipin antibodies have been strongly associated with venous and arterial thrombosis. In patients with SLE, a statistically significant association exists between the presence of anti-cardiolipin antibodies and a history of thrombosis, neurological disorders, fetal loss and thrombocytopenia.

Specimen Collection Requirements

Collect

Serum, one gold (SST) top tube

Handling

Centrifuge and separate the serum from the clot within 2 hours. Pour into a plastic tube.

1.0 mL (2.5 mL minimum whole blood draw)
