Guidelines

This test is a component of the Drugs of Abuse Panel - Comprehensive, Urine and is automatically included.

This test can be ordered as additional testing (an “add on”) to the following panels:

  • Drugs of Abuse Panel - Emergency Department, Urine
  • Drugs of Abuse Panel - Standard, Urine
  • Drugs of Abuse Panel - Intermediate, Urine
  • Drugs of Abuse Panel - Drug Endangered Child, Urine

Preferred Volume

10 mL when sending an aliquot from a Drugs of Abuse Panel - Emergency Department, Urine specimen

Minimum Volume

5 mL when sending an aliquot from a Drugs of Abuse Panel - Emergency Department, Urine specimen

Refrigerated (2-8°C)

Rejection Criteria

Test may not be performed if specimen received is less than minimum volume required.

Comments

This broad spectrum panel does NOT include drugs that are detected in a standard Drugs of Abuse panel. This means that drugs such as benzodiazepines, cocaine, heroin, opiates and marijuana are NOT detected by this panel.

This broad spectrum panel does include many drugs / medications that are outside of the scope of a standard Drugs of Abuse panel.
