ETHYLGLUCURONIDE SCREEN AND CONFIRMATION, URINE

Mnemonic

U M ETG

Synonym

ETG - Ethyl alcohol / ethanol ingestion biomarker

Includes

Immunoassay ETG screen at 1,000 ng/mL with reflex LCMSMS ETG confirmation also at 1,000 ng/mL.  ETG testing is recommended for diagnosing ethanol ingestion that has occurred more than 12 hours in the past.

Guidelines

ETG is an ethanol ingestion biomarker. It is typically detectable 1 - 3 days after ethanol ingestion. The 1,000 ng/mL cutoff is intended to eliminate environmental / unintentional ethanol exposure such as hand sanitizer and mouthwash use.
