HSV 2 type specific glycoprotein G IgG
Detects type specific antibody against HSV2. May indicate primary, recurrent or past infection/exposure. Because almost all HSV2 infections are sexually acquired, type-specific HSV2 antibody indicates anogenital infection (per CDC).
Specimen Collection Requirements
Serum, one gold (SST) top tube
Allow blood to clot, centrifuge and immediately pour serum into a plastic tube.
Hyperlipemic, heat-inactivated, hemolyzed or contaminated serum, plasma
Ambient (20-25°C): 8 hours; Refrigerated (2-8°C): 48 hours; Frozen (at or below -20°C): 2 months
