Specimen Collection Requirements

Collect

Serum, one 4 mL gold (SST) top tube

Handling

Allow serum to clot completely at room temperature. Separate serum from cells ASAP. Parallel testing is preferred. Convalescent specimens must be received within 30 days from receipt of the acute specimens. Please mark specimen plainly as Acute or Convalescent. Serum from umbilical cord blood is an acceptable specimen type.
