Guidelines

The UroVysion™ is designed to detect aneuploidy for chromosomes 3, 7, 17, and loss of the CDKN2A locus in urine specimens from patients with hematuria suspected of having bladder cancer.

Specimen Collection Requirements

Patient Preparation

For purposes of obtaining the greatest yield of diagnostic material, a second-morning clean-catch voided urine specimen should be collected, if possible.

Collect

Urine, 40 mL mixed 2:1 with PreservCyt®

Handling

Pour 40 mL of urine into specimen transport cup (large, white cap), pour contents of the PreservCyt® Solution vial (small, white cap) into the transport cup. Tighten the white cap on the specimen transport cup and mix well. For use with UroVysion Collection kit. For more specific instructions: see inside UroVysion Collection Kit.

Refrigerated specimens not fixed in PreservCyt®, urine volume less than 35 mL, or specimens refrigerated for more than 72 hours
