The only acceptable source for this test is vaginal.

Specimen Collection Requirements

Patient Preparation

Open the transport package, remove the dropper and break its ampule, dispense ampule fluid into the collection tube. Collect specimen using an unlubricated speculum and the swab provided in the BD Affirm VPIII Ambient Collection System. Swab the posterior vaginal fornix, twist swab against vaginal wall 2-3 times ensuring entire swab circumference has touched vaginal wall. Swab the lateral vaginal wall while removing swab. Immediately place the swab in the Sample Collection tube, break off swab handle at pre-scored mark. Place cap over exposed end of swab and firmly press cap onto tube to snap closed.

Handling

Specimens must be collected and transported in the manufacturer’s test specific kits.

Any source other than vaginal, any collection system other than BD VPIII
