Specimens from patients less than 1 year old will be sent to Mayo Medical Laboratories. A form of 25-Hydroxyvitamin D found significantly in infants can interfere with accurate measurement and interpretation of Vitamin D status.
VIT D25L (if ≥1 year); VIT D25 1YR (<1 year)
Vitamin D - 25-Hydroxyvitamin D2 - 25-Hydroxyvitamin D3 - Calciferol, 25-Hydroxycalciferol - Cholecalciferol - Ergocalciferol
Total 25-Hydroxyvitamin, 25-Hydroxyvitamin D2, and 25-Hydroxyvitamin D3
Tandem mass spectrometry measures 25(OH)D2 and 25(OH)D3 directly. The total is calculated by adding the two together.
