Specimen Collection Requirements

Collect

Serum, one gold (SST) top tube

Handling

Parallel testing is preferred. Convalescent samples must be received within 30 days of acute samples. Please label specimens as Acute and Convalescent.

Preferred Volume

1.0 mL

Minimum Volume

0.5 mL, pediatric: 0.15 mL

Rejection Criteria

Hemolyzed, severely lipemic, contaminated specimens

Stability

Ambient: 2 days; Refrigerated: 2 weeks; Frozen: 1 year, avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles
