Legacy Meridian Park now offers<br>comprehensive cardiac care

January 2013

Legacy Meridian Park Medical Center now provides Portland’s South Metro area with 24/7 board-certified cardiac interventional coverage.

The new services are the result of a well-recognized need in the community for interventional cardiac services and outcomes from a national study.

Legacy Meridian Park medical staff participated in a research study conducted by Johns Hopkins University, which concluded that hospitals without on-site cardiac surgery could safely and effectively provide cardiac interventional coverage. The study spanned seven years and 60 hospitals in 10 states. These results were the catalyst for Legacy Meridian Park and its medical staff to develop these services for the community.

Faster door-to-balloon time

Legacy Meridian Park’s average door-to-balloon time is now 53 minutes. That’s 37 minutes quicker than the American College of Cardiology’s (ACC) and the American Heart Association’s (AHA) recommended guidelines of 90 minutes.

A complete cardiovascular circle of care

Legacy Meridian Park has invested $5 million in two catheterization/angiography labs.

Cardiac interventional procedures include:

• Angioplasty/percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI)

• Cardiac catheterization/angiogram

• Radial intervention — cardiac catheterization, PCI

• Peripheral angiography

• Peripheral intervention

• Device implantation — pacemaker and ICD
