The need for a family house
Every day, patients arrive at Legacy Emanuel Medical Center to receive highly specialized care after suffering a serious injury or illness. These individuals come from cities throughout Oregon and Washington, and as far away as Idaho, Montana and Alaska. A significant number of these patients must stay at Legacy Emanuel for weeks or months.
The families of these patients want to stay as close to their loved ones as possible; however, the hospital rooms at Legacy Emanuel are not equipped for family members to stay for extended periods of time. The high cost of local accommodations has resulted in family members trying to sleep in Legacy Emanuel public lounges, or living in RVs in the parking lot.
The combination of the stress of the injury or illness, loss of wages, medical expenses, and then needing local room and board can be emotionally, physically and financially devastating for families.
These families need a safe, supportive environment to stay as they focus their energy on supporting and caring for their loved ones.
Your donation will help families cope during a stressful time.
