Good Sam turns 140 years old
Legacy Good Samaritan Medical Center marked 140 years of serving the community on Friday, October 9, 2015.
"As a place where tens of thousands were born, cared for and brought back to health, Good Sam is one of Portland's most timeless and important institutions," said Jonathan Avery, chief admininstrative officer of Legacy Good Samaritan. “While much has changed at Good Sam and in the world of health care since we admitted our first patient in 1875, our mission has always remained the same – to provide high-quality, compassionate care to those in need. We are thrilled to kick off this year of celebration and recognize the work of the hundreds of men and women who have worked so hard over the last 140 years to get us where we are today."
Today, Good Sam has grown into a full-service medical center of national acclaim in one of Portland’s most vibrant communities. Over the years, Legacy Good Samaritan has won numerous awards for its advancements in of cancer, rehabilitation, weight management, kidney transplant, eye, stroke and heart care.
