Legacy in the News: Legacy Health Bringing 3-D Mammography to Portland

Legacy Breast Health Center-Good Samaritan will offer Portland's first 3-D mammography services beginning on October 1, 2012 to every woman getting their mammograms from the facility.

As the newest technology for breast cancer screening and detection, 3-D mammography provides radiologists with a high-definition, more comprehensive image of the breast.  This will allow the center to more accurately pinpoint the size, shape, and location of potential problem areas and also more clearly differentiate between benign abnormalities and real tumors.  By presenting clearer, quicker, and more accurate images, Legacy Breast Health Center-Good Samaritan's new capabilities will lead to earlier detection, fewer callbacks and less anxiety for Portland women.

Three 3-D Mammography devices will replace Legacy Breast Health Center-Good Samaritan's current technology.  They were made possible through a significant investment by the Good Samaritan Foundation.
