May 5 and 6, 2013

The sun was setting as Wendi and Fernando were married in the Terrace Garden at Randall Children’s Hospital at Legacy Emanuel. The couple decided to marry in the hospital so their preemie Liam, a 37-week-old Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) baby, could attend their wedding. Wendi and Fernando were married surrounded by family and Liam’s NICU nurse Valerie.

Wendi, an interior designer from Portland, moved to Argentina in 2011. It was there that she met Fernando, a 3-D graphic designer.

At 26 weeks pregnant, Wendi traveled back to the U.S. to get ready for the arrival of their son. Surprisingly, two weeks later at 28 weeks, Liam was born at Legacy Emanuel Medical Center weighing just two pounds. Liam is now five pounds.

This was the first wedding to take place in the new home for Randall Children’s Hospital.
