Legacy in the News: Super heroes save young patient's birthday
KGW Newschannel 8
On June 25, 2014 neighbors pulled Caden Teddleton out of a burning RV in Coquille, OR. Medical personnel tranferred him to Legacy Oregon Burn Center at Legacy Emanuel Medical Center to be treated for his extensive burns and smoke inhalation. Caden was in critical condition for six weeks then finally able to leave the intensive care unit two days before his eighth birthday. His nurses and caregivers were so proud of him and thrilled with his progress, they set about giving him a birthday party any little boy would love.
When they learned Caden is a big Avengers fan, they sent out their own version of the bat signal in search of some super heroes. Luke Heckathorn and David Weeks from Legacy Safety and Security also known as The Hulk and Iron Man answered the call immediately. Portland Fire & Rescue then responded and the request made its way to firefighter Chris Riddell who knew just who to ask… his fellow Hood to Coast super hero teammates. The real life heroes put on their costumes and arrived in mass with a crew from Portland Fire & Rescue's Station 13 to give Caden a birthday he will never forget.
