Charlane had always been "fluffy."
Legacy Good Samaritan Medical Center | Weight-loss Surgery
Before losing 112 pounds, Charlane Cardwell used to call herself “fluffy.” Today, she looks and feels like a new person.
“I can see my toes!”
Charlane had gastric bypass surgery at Legacy Weight and Diabetes Institute. She said, “The people at the institute were all interested in my well-being. It feels like I have done every diet out there. At age 62, I finally found what was right for me … I wish I would have done this 30 years ago!”
Following her success, family members and friends followed suit.
Charlane says that it wasn’t just the surgery, but the education, support and follow-up from the team at the institute that helped her achieve her goals. She knows that at any time, she can still call them for help.
Before the surgery, Charlane spent hundreds of dollars a month trying to manage high blood pressure and high cholesterol. She also needed a CPAP breathing machine to help her sleep. Now, she no longer needs the CPAP machine or these medications.
Her vision has improved, as well. Her eye doctor was one of the five people Charlane and her husband inspired to call Legacy Weight and Diabetes Institute.
Along with Charlane’s physical change — she went from a size 24 to a 6 — have come internal changes. She says that the negative attitudes she had for years are gone, and she is now emotionally healthy.
