Within a month of my kidney transplant, I was feeling like my old self.

Legacy Good Samaritan Medical Center | Transplant

After fighting kidney disease for nearly 10 years and the shock of going on dialysis, I wanted to have an attempt to get my life back. My overall feeling prior to transplant was one of physical exhaustion and weakness. I felt as though I had suddenly gotten 30 years older.

On the next morning after transplant, I could feel and tell that there was a difference … in a good way. I would say that within a month after transplant I was feeling like my old self. Friends and family all noticed that my love for life, my color and my energy had returned. There is no doubt that my energy level is more than double what it was prior to my transplant. I am more active now than I have been in quite a while. I was able to assume more responsibilities in my career, and last July I received a promotion.

I don’t know if I have ever met a group of people in the medical field more dedicated to making the lives of their patients better. I will forever be grateful for the doctors and staff at Legacy Transplant Services. They took us in their caring arms, and walked my wife, Trina, and I through this. They were always there, never too busy for a concern of ours and put all our fears to rest. For the major surgery that this was for both of us, we never worried or were concerned because we knew they had our back.
