Hospitals recognized for LGBTQ care
Legacy Emanuel Medical Center and Randall Children’s Hospital have been recognized for offering equality in health care for LGBTQ patients and their families.
The recognition came in the Healthcare Equality Index 2016
, produced by the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) Foundation, the educational arm of the country’s largest civil rights organization.
“We are proud that we are able to provide progressive care for LGBTQ patients,” says Lori Morgan, M.D., president of Legacy Emanuel Medical Center. “We have worked to create an inclusive and welcoming environment for all patients, making the lives of LGBTQ patients and their families better.”
Recognized for commitment
Among Legacy’s services:

which offers medical, mental health and support services for transgender and gender non-conforming youth up to 18 years of age

Legacy Emanuel and Randall Children’s Hospital, among 496 health care facilities nationwide recognized, earned top marks in their commitment to care for LGBTQ patients and their families, who can face challenges in securing the culturally responsive health care and respect they deserve.
