Mount Hood Medical Center Foundation raises $92,000 for cancer care
Nearly 200 community members gathered at Cedarville Lodge on May 12 for the fifth Annual Denim & Diamonds Dinner and Auction to support cancer services at Legacy Mount Hood Medical Center.
Hosted by Mount Hood Medical Center Foundation, the event netted a record amount of more than $92,000.
The hospital’s cancer services are designed to support patients both physically and emotionally, from preventive screenings and early diagnosis, to treatment and recovery assistance. The foundation recently established a $200,000 fundraising campaign to develop an Integrative Medicine Center at Legacy Mount Hood. Designed to create a calm, healing environment for cancer patients, the center will provide multi-disciplinary, complementary care services from yoga therapy, meditation and mindfulness to acupuncture, therapeutic massage and art therapy.
“As cancer care changes, we are thankful for the strong community support of our high-quality, innovative programs that combine the best conventional medicine with the healing power of integrative health care,” said Gretchen Nichols, president, Legacy Mount Hood.
The Mount Hood Medical Center Foundation advocates and raises funds for Legacy Mount Hood – part of Legacy Health – the largest, local nonprofit health care provider in Oregon and Southwest Washington.
