Cardiac screening for teen athletes
Even kids who seem healthy and have passed a physical may have heart problems. Legacy Health is now offering sports physicals with athlete cardiac screenings for teens from Aug. 14 through Oct. 30,. 2017.
Held at the Randall Children’s Urgent Care
in Beaverton, the pre-participation sports physical with athlete cardiac screening will check students ages 13 to 19 for potential heart problems. The low-cost screening takes about an hour and includes height, weight, body mass index measurements, a cardiac physical exam and (if needed) an electrocardiogram.
Pediatric physicians perform the physicals. If needed, cardiac results are reviewed by pediatric cardiologists. In most cases, students will be cleared for sports within 24 hours. The evening and weekend screenings are available for just $15. Pre-registration is required
; to register, call: 503-672-6050.
