This assay DOES NOT test for COVID-19 (2019 Novel Coronavirus).

This test detects the following 19 viral and bacterial targets: Adenovirus, Coronavirus 229E, Coronavirus HKU1, Coronavirus NL63, Coronavirus OC43, Human metapneumovirus, Human rhinovirus/enterovirus, Influenza A, subtypes 2009H1N1, H1, H3, Influenza B, Parainfluenza virus types 1, 2, 3 and 4, Respiratory Syncytial Virus, Chlamydophila pneumoniae, and Mycoplasma pneumoniae. Bordetella Pertussis will be included on outpatients.

Specimen Collection Requirements

Collect

Remel Multi-Microbe Media (M4) is the primary transport media for Legacy Laboratory Services. Legacy will accept these other transport media: Copan Universal Transport Medium (UTM-RT, BD Universal Viral Transport, Cepheid Xpert Viral Transport media and BD Universal Viral Transport for Quest Diagnostics.

Handling

NP swab in 1.5 - 3 mL of M4 or M4RT viral transport medium. Nasal washes and bronchial washes in a clean leak-proof container.

Rejection Criteria

Specimen sources other than those noted in Collect, specimens at room temperature for more than 4 hours.
