Guidelines

For use with throat source only. Separate orders are available for Culture, Beta Strep, Culture, Throat, Culture, B Pertussis and Culture Gonorrhea. Positive EIA tests indicate the presence of Strep A antigen from both viable and non-viable organisms.

Specimen Collection Requirements

Collect

Use rayon transport swab containing modified Stuart’s or Amies liquid medium. Kit polyester swab acceptable if test done at collection site

Handling

Do not use culture swab transport devices containing charcoal or gel. Ideally, the test is performed immediately after collection.

1 swab in culture transport system double swab acceptable
