Guidelines

Order if hemogram and differential results are required. Results will include an automated differential. Automated differential results may be replaced by a manual differential based on instrument results as needed.

Specimen Collection Requirements

Collect

Whole Blood, one 4.0 mL or 2.0 mL lavender (EDTA) top tube or one micro lavender (EDTA) top container

Handling

Collection container must be filled to a minimum of 1/2 of the maximum sample volume (i.e. 4.0 mL tube must have 2.0 mL of blood). Do not overfilled tube, collection tubes must not be filled to more then the maximum sample volume. Refrigerate at 2-8°C

Refrigerate at 2-8°C

Rejection Criteria

Under filled or over filled tube, frozen, clotted or grossly hemolyzed samples, incorrect anticoagulant
