Specimen Collection Requirements

Collect

Serum or Plasma, one 6.0 mL royal blue top tube (no additive) or one (K₂EDTA or Na₂EDTA) royal blue top tube.

Handling

Allow serum to clot completely at room temperature (minimum: 30 minutes). Centrifuge and separate serum or plasma from cells within 2 hours of collection. Place into a trace element metal-free transfer tube (view image).

Documentation verifying our supplied transfer tubes are trace element metal-free.

0.6 mL Serum or Plasma, (1.8 mL minimum Whole Blood draw)

Rejection Criteria

Plasma collected in tube with anticoagulant other than EDTA; Hemolyzed specimens

Stability

AFTER SEPARATION FROM CELLS: Room Temperature (18-26°C): 24 hours; Refrigerated (2-8°C): 7 days; Frozen (≤ -20°C): 28 days.
