Collect

Blood or Bone Marrow, one aerobic blood culture bottle and one SPS tube.

Handling

Wipe specific bottle septum with alcohol before inserting blood.

Preferred Volume

10.0 mL

Minimum Volume

1.0 mL blood and any amount of bone marrow

Transport

Room temperature (20-25°C)

Rejection Criteria

Cracked or leaking bottles, refrigerated or frozen specimens

Stability

24 hours at room temperature.
