Fasting over night (12-14 hours). Patient must not consume alcohol for 24 hours before the specimen is drawn.

Serum, plain, red or gold (SST) top tube

Spin specimen down within 45 minutes of draw. Include information regarding treatment, family history, and tentative diagnosis.
