DIAGNOSING DIABETES:
Diabetes screens for non-pregnant adults should be confirmed according to ADA guidelines.
Non-Pregnant Adults
≤5.6%  Non-diabetic range
5.7-6.0%  High risk
6.1-6.4%  Very high risk
≥6.5%  Threshold for diabetes

MONITORING DIABETES:
Recommended ADA goals for monitoring diabetic adults and children are:
<6 years  7.6-8.4%
6-12 years  <8.0%
13-19 years  <7.5%*
>19 years  <7.0%*
Estimated Average Glucose (EAG):
Estimated average glucose (EAG) is calculated from HbA1c using the equation established in the A1c-Derived Average Glucose (ADAG) Study. An HbA1c greater than or equal to 6.5% is the threshold for diabetes, which corresponds to an EAG result of 140 mg/dL.
