Specimen Collection Requirements

Collect

Whole Blood, one 10 mL yellow (ACD) top tube

Handling

Do not transfer blood to other containers. Specimen must be received at Mayo Medical Laboratory within 96 hours of draw. Collect specimen Monday through Thrusday only and not the day before a holiday. Specimens should be collected and packaged as close to shipping time as possible. Please notify Legacy Laboratory Referral Department of all Hexosaminidase testing at 503-413-5106. Molecular Genetics-Biochemical Disorders Patient Information Sheet is required. This form is available from Legacy Client Services and on the web.
